Girls Kwik Cricket Sports report written by Hannah Holden and Beth Schratz

RDSSP Open Kwik Cricket Girls Finals
4th June 2015

On the 4th of June 2015, 2 teams from Osmaston Primary School took part in a Kwik Cricket tournament (for girls). The A team came in 2nd(overall) and the B team came in 5th (overall). The event took place at Wirksworth Cricket Club and each team played 3 games. In our A team there were 8 players (captain Amelie Mason, Hannah Holden, Beth Schratz, Phoebe Keeling, Ella Zyngiel, Gabriella Nicholson, Evie Waring and Isabelle Holden). The B team includes:  captain Anniss Bates, Ella Jones, Maisie Wass, Charis Allen, Amelia Bowers, Emilia Nicholson, Megan Startin and Amy Phillips

The A team won their 1st and 2nd game (against Longstone C and B teams), launching them into the final against Longstone A. They unfortunately lost, with a score of 263 to 237 to the opposing team. The B team sadly lost their 1st game against Longstone A which knocked them out of the main competition, leaving them unable to win a medal. When they were knocked out, they entered a plate competition (which they played two games in, and they won both). Janice Price thought the level of cricket was outstanding at the tournament. She also interviewed out A team, because it was women in sports week! She asked us lots of questions, such as: do you have a sporty family?... What other sports do you like to play (apart from cricket)?

At the end of the day (around 4 ‘O’clock) the A team were given their medals, and crowned 2nd! (3rd and 1st place were also given their medals).
