Osmaston rounders squad blow away the tournament including a 23 ½ - 3 ½ win by Tom Breen

On Thursday 18th of June 2015, Osmaston entered 1 team (due to a clash of events) into the QEGS cluster rounders tournament. The team did extremely well hitting over fifty rounders in order to come first in their pool.
In the first game we came up against a tough looking Parkside A team, only to be shocked that we actually beat them with the score of the tournament. Due to brilliant co-ordination from Sam and Phoebe Keeling and an aware Barney Hart got nearly all the players either out or not scoring. Then came up the batting which the team blew away. William Carroll and William Stelfox hit stunners to easily pass through 10 and before they knew it, the score was up to 23 and a ½ to 3 and a ½ due to a few no balls and one half a rounder.
In the second game we were up against a massive hitting Hulland who caught us by surprise, hitting 3 rounders in the first three balls! The game then was quieter and before the team knew it they were up batting. Ella Zyngiel in particular was an outstanding batter and got 3 ½ out of 4 rounders! Abby Copestake hit a couple of rounders too, both amazingly big hits. Tom Breen (me! J) got a nice catch too to top the game off on a high. The score was 9-7.
The third game was probably the most competitive with a few mums deciding to tell the umpire their job. Josh Morton did a brilliant job on 4th post saving us many times. Then the moment of controversy happened. Sam Keeling went up for his 3rd bat when one of the mums from Brailsford decided that he wasn’t allowed his bat. However, this made no difference to the scoreline as the team got every single one of their players out. The eventual score was 14-5.
The fourth game was cut short so Osmaston only got 1 bat each, nevertheless, we still won against Waterhouses, a newcomer into the tournaments, 7-1.
Overall, the team came first in their pool and did and played extremely well as a team.
