How is French taught?
At Osmaston CE(VC) Primary School, we aim for our language education to foster pupils' curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world, enabling pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language. Our current language provision is French in which children are taught to understand and respond in both speech and writing.
French is currently taught by Lingotots who are are fully accredited by NCFE CACHE, an OfQual regulated awarding body. Our qualified teacher, Mrs Vinecombe, is a fluent linguist and delivers the curriculum weekly from Class 3 upwards (Yrs 3- 6). In addition, there is a Lingotots French Club which runs weekly for all age groups as part of the school's wrap around provision.
All lessons allow children to develop their language skills in relevant, engaging and meaningful contexts. Learning happens through a great range of interactive activities, role-play, songs, games and stories.
By the end of their journey at Osmaston CE(VC) Primary School, we aim for all children to have gained a language qualification as a result of their progressive learning over time.
